Careers

Kellogg Hansen attracts and retains the finest legal talent to join us in a high-energy and challenging practice that encourages teamwork and camaraderie. From its inception, the firm has been based on the idea that, if given the opportunity, talented young attorneys not only can handle substantial responsibility but also can produce outstanding results. In addition, by the end of the year, associates — including many who started at the firm in 2021 or 2022 — took or defended more than 50 depositions. These cases are not exceptions. We are confident that the opportunities available at this firm — to play an integral part in challenging litigation — are unrivaled anywhere else in the country.

To apply send an email containing your resume and law school transcript with attention to Scott Angstreich.

With uncommon exceptions, our incoming associates join the firm following their completion of one or more federal court clerkships. We typically begin reviewing resumes no earlier than mid-October for associate positions to start in the fall of the following year.

Kellogg Hansen Associate Accomplishments

Rachel DeLisle, Geoffrey Block, Katherine Tondrowski, Matthew Wilkins

Questioned multiple witnesses during a successful 5-day preliminary injunction hearing on behalf of FuboTV and against Disney, Fox, and Warner Brothers Discovery. The judge repeatedly remarked about how happy and impressed she was with young attorneys arguing in the proceeding.

Abraham Watkins v. Festeryga

Daren Zhang

Successfully argued for partial reversal of a district court’s dismissal on behalf of a pro bono client, with the Ninth Circuit reviving the client’s First Amendment and Equal Protection claims against a prison chaplain in his individual capacity. However, the court upheld dismissal of the RLUIPA claim, citing binding precedent that bars monetary damages under RLUIPA against state officials individually—an issue now pending review by the U.S. Supreme Court (23-1196).

Fuqua v. Raak

Jared Stehle

Successfully argued in an opposition to summary judgment that defendant pork producers were involved in a conspiracy to fix pork prices.

In re Pork Antitrust Litigation

Travis Edwards and Jonathan Liebman

Namdar v. Immutable Holdings Inc.

Alex Treiger and Kyle Wood

Briefed a motion to compel discovery from a commercial healthcare insurance carrier, and argued the motion in federal court. The magistrate judge ordered the respondent to produce documents in response to all but one document requests.

FTC v. U.S. Anesthesia Partners, Inc.

Abigail DeHart

Argued and won reversal of a district court’s summary judgment dismissal on behalf of a pro bono client who was seeking to have workers’ compensation benefits restored. The case was wrongfully removed from state court, and the Ninth Circuit remanded it to where the client properly filed.

Paralegals

Paralegals at Kellogg Hansen work closely with the firm’s attorneys at both the appellate and trial level. As an integral part of our litigation teams, the firm’s paralegals understand that trial preparation begins with the filing of the complaint, and they work efficiently to manage complex matters. The firm’s paralegal team members have diverse experience and talents, and several hold law degrees. All are respected colleagues and enable the efficient and successful progress of our matters.

Legal Administrative Assistants

Assistants are a critical part of the firm’s litigation and trial teams and provide outstanding support to the firm’s attorneys and other members. Administrative assistants are a diverse group of career assistants and recent college graduates. Assistants work independently with attorneys, as well as in a team environment with paralegals and other administrative professionals to ensure the effective support of the firm’s matters.

Researchers

The research group provides factual support, produces fact reports, and analyzes data for legal, regulatory, and legislative filings and presentations. While the group initially focused on the analysis of the U.S. telecommunications industry and federal and state telecommunications policy, it has expanded over time to support all of the firm’s practice areas. The research group has been instrumental in many of the firm’s significant projects, including the review of mergers and acquisitions by the Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission, fact reports on the competition for local and special access telecommunications services, and publication of the Federal Telecommunications Law treatise and its supplements.

Administrative

Our administrative departments comprise dedicated professionals committed to providing excellent service. We provide a full range of support services in the following administrative departments: accounting, human resources, information technology services, library, operations, and records management.
